11/17/22- Domestic Highway Enforcement (DHE) Arrest in Hartford.

Detectives assigned to SNTF and the Hartford VCTF conducted a proactive narcotics interdiction DHE operation in the greater Hartford area. The operation focused on violent criminals, stolen vehicles, illegal firearms, and narcotics within the opiate family. Jonas Efer Deaza-Escobar (DOB 10/22/03) of Hartford was stopped on Barker St., Hartford for motor vehicle violations. During the motor vehicle stop, narcotics detection K-9's alerted on narcotics. Detectives seized 11 grams of "crack" cocaine, a firearm and digital scale. A registration check of the motor vehicle was found to be stolen out of New Britain.


Deaza-Escobar was charged with one count each of:


14-147(c) - Improper Use of marker

14-232(b) - Unsafe Passing

14-299 - Violation of Traffic Control Signals

21a-267 (a) - Use of Drug Paraphernalia

21a-278(a)(1)(A)(ii) - Possession w/intent to sell

21a-278a(b) - Control substance within 200ft of a school

29-38 - Ill possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle

53-206 - Carrying a dangerous weapon

53a-124 - Larceny 3rd degree


Escobar was held on a $100,000 bond, scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court on 11/18/22.
